Nutritional composition per 100 g of RUSF paste

RUSF is a ready-to-use food that does not require any preparation or cooking. It can be consumed directly from the package by the child. RUSF can be eaten by a child on her/his own. It is recommended to have drinking water available for the children when RUSF is used.

After opening the sachet, RUSF should be consumed in a day.

RUSF is intended to provide additional nutrients and energy that may not be obtained through the child’s regular diet, but it should not be used as a sole source of nutrition.

The decision to provide a nutritional supplement is typically made in response to an abnormal increase in the prevalence of acute malnutrition among children under the age of five, particularly in contexts of poor food security and/or disease epidemics. As children in developing countries are most at risk of undernutrition during their first years of life, it is crucial to address their nutritional needs during this important period of growth and development as quickly as possible.
Peanuts, sugar, skimmed milk powder, demineralized whey powder, vegetable oils, stabilizer (fully hydrogenated vegetable fat, mono and diglycerides), vitamin and mineral complex.

Allergens: Milk and peanuts. May contain soybeans in small quantities.

Product Benefit

Ready-to-Use Supplementary Food (RUSF) is a recommended intervention to address the nutritional needs of children with moderate acute malnutrition. RUSF is a lipid-based nutritional supplement with high vitamin and mineral content that can effectively address nutrient deficiencies and support healthy growth and development. Its high nutrient density, stability, and palatability make it an ideal choice for the management of moderate acute malnutrition, allowing for improved health outcomes and a better quality of life for affected children.
