General Description

92g sachet LNS-PLW is a peanut based lipid-based nutrient supplement that formulated for the treatment of moderate acute malnutrition in pregnant and lactating women while helping to improve the development of the fetus and the infant.

LNS-PLW is designed to supplement the diets of pregnant and lactating women in undernourished populations, in addition to the foods consumed by their families.

It is intended to be consumed in addition to the woman’s usual diet and family foods, and it is portion-controlled for consistency in nutritional value. LNS-PLW is designed to improve the overall health and well-being of both the mother and the developing fetus/infant by providing a source of essential vitamins and minerals, as well as energy-dense macronutrients such as protein and fat. Regular consumption of LNS-PLW can help to reduce the risk of poor birth outcomes and prevent undernutrition during pregnancy and lactation. It is also easy to use, requiring no preparation or cooking, and is portion-controlled to ensure consistent intake of key nutrients.

LNS-PLW comes in a ready-to-eat paste form, which can be consumed directly from the sachet without any cooking, mixing, or dilution required.

After opening the sachet, LNS-PLW should be consumed in a day.

1 sachet per day is recommended for pregnant and lactating women in undernourished populations.

The recommended period for LNS-PLW supplementation is from week 12 of pregnancy until the end of lactation, which typically lasts for one month postpartum. This targeted period of supplementation aims to address the increased nutrient demands of the mother and the developing fetus or infant for optimal health outcomes.
Peanuts, sugar, skimmed milk powder, demineralized whey powder, vegetable oils, stabilizer (fully hydrogenated vegetable fat, mono and diglycerides), vitamin and mineral complex.

Quality standards

LNS-PLW is manufactured in accordance with the Codex Alimentarius, Good Manufacturing Practice (GMPs), and Good Hygiene Practices (GHPs) to ensure the highest standards of safety and quality. Production is in control with adaptation of a certified quality management system that employs a Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) approach to food safety.

LNS-PLW complies with the microbiological criteria recommended by Guidelines for ready-to-use therapeutic foods (CXG 95-2022). All raw materials are food grade in compliance with general recommendations of Codex Alimentarius (STAN
200-1995, STAN 207-1999, STAN 212-1999).

To avoid cross contamination during the storage of raw materials and the manufacturing processes, below Codex Alimentarius Standards are implemented but are not limited to:

Logistical information

LNS-PLW has a shelf life of 24 months.

After opening, the sachet should be used within 24 hours.

It is recommended to keep the product in a dry and cool place, at a temperature below 30°C. LNS-PLW is not prone to bacterial contamination due to its low water activity.

Serving size unit is 100g sachet providing 500 kcal.

Packaging

LNS-PLW is packaged under protective atmosphere (nitrogen) in order to optimize the product’s shelf life. Sachets are air and humidity tight.

Packaging material of the sachet is suitable for food contact according to European Regulation 1935/2004, 27th October 2004.

Packaging specification: 12micron PET/12micron METPET/40micron NylonPE or 40micron LLDPE, with minimum thickness 60 micron or equivalent.

Standards and test for barrier properties: ASTM F1249-13 or equivalent, ASTM F1927-14 or equivalent
